Majorca villa holidays
Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and the most popular. The vibrant city of Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the island and bustling with tourists. With a stunning harbour, a beautiful gothic cathedral, plenty of shops and many café bars lining the pavements, it's a great city to visit. From here you can take the old-style train journey to the charming port of Soller - a traditional family holiday resort with a lovely beach and great views if take take the short walk up to the lighthouse. There's a good selection of seafood restaurants here too.
Choose the location of your Majorca villa carefully as the island has a huge variety of resorts - from the lively typical package holiday resort of Magaluf with its high-rise apartments, many bars and all-night clubs to the relaxed family resorts of Puerto Pollensa or Alcudia towards the north of the island with their pretty harbours, white sandy beaches and great choice of restaurants. Head inland for some pretty countryside scenery - another great base for a villa and great for walking or cycling. For couples looking for a romantic hideaway, head to the historical towns of Deia or Valdemossa - worlds away from the rest of the island.
Ibiza villa holidays
Ibiza is the party capital of Europe with some of the most famous, biggest and best nightclubs in the world. However, if this isn't your thing, don't be put off from taking a villa holiday in Ibiza as this is just a tiny corner of the island.
Ibiza town is the capital of the island. Take a stroll along the harbour or trek the cobbled streets up to the old town to browse through the boutiques or sample some of the many restaurants. The views from here across the bay are amazing. There are many holiday resorts spread across the island with the most popular ones being San Antonio, Santa Eulalia, Portinatx and Puerto de San Miguel.
San Antonio is a typical holiday resort and famed for its busy nightllife and amazing sunsets; sip a cocktail at the famous Cafe Del Mar as you watch the sun go down. Next to San Antonio is San Antonio Bay with vast sandy beaches and a wide choice of accommodation, restaurants and entertainment. Santa Eulalia is a quieter resort and very popular with families along with Puerto de San Miguel which has a sheltered sandy beach. Towards the noth of the island away from the crowds is Portinatx with great seafood restaurants and beaches - it's ideal for couples and families wanting to take a relaxing break.
Overall, the island is filled with many traditional Spanish villages and the pretty countryside is covered with olive groves, pine trees, fig trees and wild herbs. With stunning mountains, cliffs, clear blue skis and beautiful sandy beaches hidden in every cove it's a great place to take a villa holiday whether you're looking for a relaxing family holiday, a romantic break for two or a non-stop party.
Menorca villa holidays
With miles of uncrowded beaches, pretty fishing villages and historic towns, Menorca is the most unspoilt and quietest of the three Balearic Islands and a great place to take a villa holiday. Despite being the second largest Balearic Island after Majorca, it has almost as many beaches as Majorca and Ibiza combined!
Most of the popular beach resorts are in the south of the island whilst the north of the island has a rugged coastline with pretty coves. The capital of the island is Mahon with plenty of shops, markets, restaurants, cafes and bars.
Menorca has escaped most of the effect of package holidays and the island's small towns and villages offer a fairly quiet and relaxed holiday, even during the peak season - hence the popularity of families taking villa holidays there year after year!
