Unsure of your next holiday destination and wondering where everyone else is considering for their getaways? Be inspired by your fellow Brits with these trending package holiday hotspots.

Every month at TravelSupermarket HQ, we’re analysing our top 20 most searched-for destinations to power our Holiday Hotlist, which also takes into account the cheapest destinations at the moment along with a range of other factors.

Below are the destinations that are currently seeing a spike in interest. Searches for the most on-trend holiday locations were up by nearly 300% in July compared to June*.

From old favourites in Spain and Greece, to rising stars you may not have considered, here are 10 package holiday destinations that our customers are loving right now.

1. Santorini, Greece

Increase in searches since June: 296.3%

Santorini is by far our most on-trend destination right now, with TravelSupermarket searches up by a staggering 296.3% in July compared to June.

Dark volcanic cliffs peppered with white houses make it one of the most recognisable Greek islands. Its beaches are as unusual as they are beautiful, with black, red, and white sands creating a mesmerising multi-coloured coastline.

If you’re wondering where to stay, families love Perissa and Kamari, the former offering a wider variety of hotels, apartments and restaurants and the latter being a slightly quieter option. Both have links to Fira, which is the best spot for nightlife with its variety of cocktail bars and nightclubs. Oia, meanwhile, is the atmospheric setting for sunset-watching and a hub of award-winning local cuisine.

Santorini is also home to some of the oldest vineyards in Greece. Take a day trip to the island’s southern interior and sip on crisp white wines under the setting sun.

Increase in searches since June: 238.4%

Another destination that was immensely popular in July, Menorca also saw an increase of over 200%, helping to drive it to top spot on the latest Holiday Hotlist – which combines a search trends with a range of factors, like average prices and last-minute value.

You’re never far from a secluded cove with powdery white sands and vivid turquoise waters here. From Cala Macarella on the south coast to Cala Pregonda in the north, you have a dazzling array of beaches to pick from.

There are places to stay for all types of travellers too. Cala Galdana’s shallow waters and nearby Aquarock waterpark make it a top pick for families, Son Bou is a bargain break hotspot and Mahón is the cultural and social hub with the widest selection of bars and restaurants.

You’ll find fresh, local dishes everywhere – freshly-caught seafood and slow-cooked stews are mouth-watering options after a day at the beach or wandering the stunning Camí de Cavalls coastal path that encircles the island.

3. Malta

Increase in searches since June: 77.3%

While not quite on the level of Santorini and Menorca, Malta still saw a significant increase in searches in July, contributing to its rapid rise to #3 in the Holiday Hotlist. Not only this, it also topped our recent round-up of the cheapest beach destinations this summer.

Its ancient history, dramatically rugged coastline and impossibly clear waters make it a genuinely unique European beach holiday destination. To the north-east of the island, Qawra has a plethora of stylish hotels and is a popular spot for an all-inclusive holiday. Mellieħa, where you’ll find one of only a few sandy beaches, is a family favourite along with Buġibba, which has an equally appealing artificial beach.

Evenings here can be spent exploring the UNESCO-listed capital city of Valletta, a labyrinth of golden alleys and architectural marvels, or the lively nightlife hub of St Julian's.

The slow-paced, neighbouring island of Gozo is worth considering for a truly tranquil break, with its scenic oceanside trails, megalithic temples and rocky coves.

4. Corfu, Greece

Increase in searches since June: 62.8%

Corfu is also among the cheapest beach destinations at the moment, and TravelSupermarket searchers were certainly keen to compare deals here in July, with searches up 62.8% versus June.

Unsurprisingly for a Greek island, it’s awash with world-class beaches, such as the vast horseshoe-shaped bay and striking rock formations of Agios Gordios and the Instagrammable twin beaches of Porto Timoni.

There are resorts for all tastes, too. In the north of the island, Kassiopi is the place to go for romantic taverna meals and leisurely harbourside strolls, while Kavos is a thronging nightlife hotspot in the south.

Powdery white-sand beaches with warm, shallow waters make Sidari a great option for a family holiday in Corfu, with the huge Aqualand waterpark one of many exciting things to do across the island.

5. Gran Canaria, Spain

Increase in searches since June: 61.8%

The Canary Islands are attractive no matter the season, and it was Gran Canaria that emerged as the most on-trend of this spectacular Spanish archipelago in July.

Long an all-inclusive holiday favourite, it's typified by its year-round sun and dramatic landscapes that make it feel a truly exotic escape. Nicknamed the ‘miniature continent’, you’ll find everything from vast rolling sand dunes and pine forests to deep ravines and volcanic cliffs.

Popular places to stay include Maspalomas, home to one of the island’s best beaches, the dune-backed Playa de Maspalomas, Puerto Rico, where an endless selection of watersports is on offer and Playa del Ingles, renowned for its lively chiringuitos (beach bars).

But Gran Canaria’s staggering natural beauty extends beyond its beaches. Hiking trails criss-cross the island, and take in the likes of the Roque Nublo, one of the biggest natural crags in the world, and the towering peak of Pico de las Nieves, which offers gorgeous panoramas.

6. Zante, Greece

Increase in searches since June: 48.6%

An aerial view on the famous Shipwreck Beach in Zante with boats on sparkling blue water and surrounded by white cliffs covered in green treesAn aerial view on the famous Shipwreck Beach in Zante with boats on sparkling blue water and surrounded by white cliffs covered in green trees

Given how achingly beautiful Zante is in summer, it’s perhaps no surprise that TravelSupermarket users were increasingly searching for holidays here in July.

A small island packed with diverse experiences, you can mould a Zante holiday to suit your style. Spend the morning watching nesting turtles, snorkel from Makris Gialos beach in the afternoon and hit the strip in Laganas, a hub of bars, clubs and all-inclusive resorts, in the evening.

Tsilivi and Kalamaki are great for families looking to avoid the noise from party-goers and instead enjoy traditional tavernas serving slow-cooked lamb kleftiko. Their respective beaches are staggeringly pretty, with azure waters and dramatic white cliff faces. Neither is far from Zante Water Village, one of the biggest waterparks in Greece.

You could even stretch to a luxury stay in Zante, knowing that it’s one of the cheapest destinations in Greece for a five-star holiday.

7. Costa Blanca, Spain

Increase in searches since June: 41.3%

A view of Playa del Albir on the coast of Costa Blanca, SpainA view of Playa del Albir on the coast of Costa Blanca, Spain

One of Spain’s most appealing coastal destinations, the Costa Blanca’s popularity over the summer was underlined in July as TravelSupermarket searches rose by over 41%.

Whether you’re eyeing up a last-minute summer getaway or a winter break, when temperatures are milder but the crowds are all but gone, the Costa Blanca has plenty of destinations to consider.

It’s always hard to look past Benidorm, with its year-round sun, lively city beach and vibrant nightlife. It’s not all booze and beaches either, with nearby mountains criss-crossed with epic hiking trails and an old town bustling with traditional tapas bars.

Alicante is another popular spot, even for a short break. As well as a hilltop castle it has a quaint old town, where you can indulge in fish stews and red grilled prawns, followed up by turron (a sweet made with nougat and nuts), the city’s favourite sweet treat.

Nearby Calpe poses an equally delicious Spanish food scene, though with a quieter feel than its neighbours along the coast. Make time to see the Natural Park of Penyal d'lfac, an impressive limestone outcrop that’s home to various rare plants and sea birds.

8. Kos, Greece

Increase in searches since June: 40.4%

Yet another Greek island to feature on this top 10, Kos holidays were keenly compared on TravelSupermarket in July, with searches up by more than 40%.

As is almost a guarantee with Greek islands, sun-soaked Kos’ coastline is punctuated by glorious beaches, from sweeping stretches of golden sand to shingle coves. Glistening turquoise water, perfect for snorkelling or simply bathing, is a given too.

The island is famed for its superb windsurfing and kitesurfing, with the laid-back resort of Psalidi the main hub for these and other exciting watersports. Things are livelier in Kardamena, known for its shoulder-to-shoulder bars and clubs.

The medieval castle and other historic sites in Kos Town offer an intriguing alternative to the sea and sand, while evenings can be spent at welcoming family-run tavernas, indulging in freshly caught fish, souvlaki and mezze.

9. Dalaman area, Turkey

Increase in searches since June: 33.2%

Turkey’s beach destinations may have dropped slightly in the Holiday Hotlist rankings this month, but they remain an attractive option and very much on-trend. Searches for the Dalaman area were up 33.2%.

Making up part of Turkey’s majestic Turquoise Coast, the Dalaman area is flanked by the imposing Taurus Mountains and the glistening Aegean Sea. Renowned for its all-inclusive holidays, there are endless sun-drenched beachfront resorts here.

Head to Marmaris to sip cocktails and gaze over sweeping blue bays, with a backdrop of pine-clad hills. Summers here are long and hot, with temperatures climbing well above 30°C and the sun shining 12 hours a day.

Fethiye offers an appealing blend of new and old, with modern resorts set close to the ancient Lycian city of Telmessos and a beautiful natural harbour. Nearby Olu Deniz is famed for its magnificent Blue Lagoon, and despite the postcard-perfect scenery here, holiday prices tend to be affordable.

10. Kefalonia, Greece

Increase in searches since June: 27.5%

Assos village in Kefalonia, GreeceAssos village in Kefalonia, Greece

A fifth Greek island rounds off the top 10 trending destinations for this month. Kefalonia, which is also among the cheapest destinations for a five-star Greek holiday, saw a 27.5% increase in TravelSupermarket searches in July.

The largest Ionian island offers a more peaceful ambience than many of its counterparts. If you’re travelling as a couple, consider chic Fiskardo with its pastel-painted houses, or Assos which is near Myrtos, one of the island’s best beaches.

And there are resorts to suit every type of traveller in Kefalonia, from family-friendly Skala, characterised by its long, sheltered beach and shallow waters, to Lassi which is a scuba diver’s paradise.

Experiences here are as varied as the resorts, so you won’t be short of things to do if you can drag yourself away from your hotel pool. Hire a bike and cycle through mountain forests to spot wild horses, hike to the breathtaking summit of Mount Ainos (stopping to sample the finest local wines on its lower slopes), or explore Old Vlachata, an eerie, abandoned village.
